8 ubiquitous Instagram beauty trends that need to die already

Quoth the Instagram MUA, “Nevermore.”

WE LOVE SCROLLING through Instagram for makeup inspiration just as much as the next gal, but it’s time to face the facts: Things are getting ridiculous over there.

Here are a few trends that need to go, PRONTO.

1. Dripping the foundation on to your face straight from the bottle

That’s so much product! Not to mention – one false move and you and everything you own will be destroyed. You’re giving me a heart attack, girls.

2. Useless colour correcting

At the risk of sounding like your granny: That’s only messing, so it is. Messing!

3. Concealing almost half your face

Two triangles under the eyes, one on the forehead and one for the chin, a strip down the nose… Did we not just apply a full face of foundation? What is this for? Pls explain.

4. Highlighting the nose into oblivion

A beaming snozz mostly looks daft in real life, sorry.

5. Those creepy grey contact lenses

At some point in the last year, every Instagram MUA somehow acquired wolflike grey eyes. The uncanny valley effect is extreme.

6. Photoshopped eyeshadow photos

The look might be achievable, but you’ll never know cos it’s been smoothed and perfected by an editing app. How, Sway?

7. Fake freckles

Not fooled.

8. And applying makeup using truly ridiculous items

We’ve seen red peppers, sanitary towels, fidget spinners, and yep, that’s a condom. CEASE AND DESIST.
